2015 A is for Art Centerpiece

The centerpieces on the tables for A is for Art were created by the Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts Department through the work of elementary itinerant art teachers.  They are called ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) Knots.  Zentangle is a meditative drawing method that breaks down patterns into easy to replicate steps, each drawn "one stroke at a time".

The knots are made from a template, scored, then linked into place.  They are illuminated from the inside with an easily removable LED flickering candle, and supported by red chopsticks artfully arranged with beads and coiled wire.  A ribbon or string can also be added to hang the knot in an auspicious location.  Sales of the centerpieces will benefit secondary fine arts programs through the APS Education Foundation, and will be sold for $25 each.
